SPAN 395: Special Topics
Course Description
Studies a particular topic relative to the Spanish language or Hispanic cultures. May be repeated for credit when topics vary. (Credit/NoCredit Available)
Course Reflective Narratives
SPAN 395: Special Topics, is a class that helped me in preparing for WLC 400. In this class I was able to come up with the topic for my Capstone, I had a topic in mind, but end up changing my mind three times. In class we discuss our topics, mine was the “Popol Vuh” but by discussing it in class I realized that I was not going to have enough information for this topic. I decided to switch to Flamenco and bullfighting in Spain, a very interesting topic but ended up switching my topic one more time. I changed my topic to “Las Trece Rosas”, thirteen females that were executed because they were “rojas”(repuclican women were call rojas in Spain).
In this class we went over research methods and got some very helpful advice. We were lectured on the E-Portfolio: how to create it and what it needs to include. By the time we were in Capstone the students that took this class were ahead of the students who did not. I was able to help classmates with their E-Portfolio because I had already created my E-Portfolio and knew how to do it. This course is the perfect class to take before Capstone, it is up to the student how much advantage they take from this course. I was unsure of taking this class, but I am glad I took it because I was given many tools for my WLC 300 course.
